WASHINGTON, Sept. 16 (UPI) -- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced the recall of Western Family-brand family variety pack instant oatmeal because of a labeling error.
The FDA said Ralston Foods initiated the recall of 14,664 cartons of the oatmeal bearing "Best If Used By" date code "DEC0409N" because the product might contain undeclared milk, posing a health hazard to people allergic to dairy products.
The recalled Western Family Variety Pack Instant Oatmeal was distributed by Western Family Foods Inc. to stores in Alaska, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming. The product is packaged in cartons weighing 13.8-ounces and containing 10 packets of instant oatmeal.
Consumers can return the recalled products for a refund or contact Ralston Foods at 800-725-7866 for further information.
