QUINCY, Mass. - Grocery store chain Stop & Shop Supermarket Co. said Friday it is removing from its shelves all 7.25 ounce plastic bottles of Hershey Chocolate Shell Topping since the product may contain almonds.
The company said the almonds were not included in an ingredient list for the ice cream topping.
The removal comes after Hershey Co. voluntarily recalled the product.
Stop & Shop, owned by Dutch retailer Royal Ahold NV, said only bottles that have the code "69N" on the back of the bottle below a UPC code of #3400000600 are affected.
The company said customers who are allergic to almonds should throw away the bottle or return it to Stop & Shop for a full refund.
Hershey shares rose 70 cents to $37.12 in afternoon trading.
