Aug. 22, 2008 -- Nestle Prepared Foods Company is recalling about 215,660 pounds of its "Hot Pockets Pepperoni Pizza" stuffed sandwiches because they may contain pieces of plastic.
The recall, noted on the web site of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), is limited to 54-ounce, 12-pack cartons of Hot Pockets Pepperoni Pizza stuffed sandwiches. Printed on the side of each carton is "8157544614D," "EST 7721A," and "Best Before Jan2010."
The products were produced on June 5 and distributed to stores nationwide. Nestle has gotten four consumer complaints of hard red plastic in the Hot Pockets pepperoni pizza sandwiches; no injuries have been reported, Nestle spokesperson Roz O'Hearn tells WebMD.
If you think you have the recalled Hot Pockets sandwiches or have questions about the recall, O'Hearn asks you to call Nestle at 800-350-5016.
Last month, Nestle recalled nearly 200,000 pounds of its Lean Pockets spinach artichoke chicken sandwiches, also because of consumer complaints of plastic in those sandwiches.
