WASHINGTON, June 12 (UPI) -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of MTD Cub Cadet four-wheel drive utility vehicles due to a fire hazard.
The wiring harness on the vehicles, made by MTD of Brownsville, Tenn., can melt due to excessive heat, a CPSC statement said. No injuries have been reported but MTD has received five reports of heat damage.
About 700 of the Cub Cadet 4x4 EFI Volunteer Utility Vehicles were sold in March and April for $9,700-$10,500.
Consumers were advised to stop using the vehicles immediately and contact a Cub Cadet dealership for free servicing.
Consumers can also call MTD at 888-848-6038 for information.
