CPSC recalls about 9,700 Bosch hammer drills

WASHINGTON -The Consumer Product Safety Commission has issued a voluntary recall for about 9,700 Bosch hammer drills made by Robert Bosch Tool Corp. of Mount Prospect, Ill.

The CPSC said the drill can continue to operate after the trigger has been released. No injuries have yet been reported.

The drill was sold at Menards and other hardware retailers and industrial distributors from July 2007 through April 2008 for about $100.

The recalled drill is blue with "BOSCH" printed on the side. The model number, 1191VSR, is on the nameplate mounted on the side of the motor. The packaging is marked as 1191VSRK. Only drills with a serial number that begins with "7" are included in the recall.

The CPSC recommends consumers should stop using the drill immediately and contact the company for a free repair.
