WASHINGTON, Aug. 1 (UPI) -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of New England Ropes climbing lines because of a fall hazard.
The climbing ropes can break, resulting in serious injury for climbers, CPSC said in a statement.
About 530 of the climbing lines were sold from August 2006 through June 2008 for $180-$262, CPSC said.
The ropes included in the recall are the Maxim Apogee 9.1mm and Maxim Pinnacle 9.5mm ropes. The colors of the ropes are yellow and black and red and yellow, CPSC said.
CPSC advised consumers to stop using the recalled climbing lines and contact New England Ropes of Fall River, Mass., for a free replacement.
Consumers can call New England Ropes at 866-617-9038 for information.
