WASHINGTON, June 19 (UPI) -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of Tucker Rocky clamp kits due to increased risk of injury.
The bolts in the Pro Taper Clam Kits, used with off-road motorcycles, can break, causing the handlebars to separate during a crash, resulting in serious injury, CPSC said in a statement.
About 12,000 of the clamp kits, distributed by Tucker Rocky Distributing of Fort Worth, Texas, were sold at motorcycle dealerships nationwide between October 2007 and March 2008 for about $5 for a Replacement Bolt Kit to $440 for a Complete Triple Clamp Kit.
No injuries have been reported but the company has received seven complaints of the bolts breaking, CPSC said.
Consumers were advised to stop using motorcycles equipped with the recalled kits and contact the company for a free replacement.
Consumers can also call Tucker Rocky Distribution at 866-217-7750 for information.
