Electric candle warmers recalled

WASHINGTON, May 30 (UPI) -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of Provo Craft and Novelty electric candle warmers due to fire hazard.

The Candlesense Warmers, made by Provo Craft and Novelty of Spanish Fork, Utah, includes a heating element that can detach, melt the bottom of the plastic casing and ignite, CPSC said in a statement.

Eleven instances of detached heating elements and two fires have been reported, CPSC said.

About 730,000 of the warmers with product codes YD0629 through YDO652 and UDO701 through YDO708 are involved in the recall.

They were sold at Wal-Mart and other national retailers form August 2006 thorough October 2007 for between $5 and $10.

Consumers were advised to contact Provo Craft for a voucher worth 120 percent of the purchase price.
